English Language Club / Dream in English

This project was conducted between 2017-2018, at Kortepohja School in Jyväskylä, Finland, as Turkish, Indian, and Uyghur Turkish English teachers, with the students who went to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades of which the medium of instruction language is English, with the parents and teachers of these students. As a result of the surveys, SWOT analysis, and observations, necessary reports were prepared and the need for support in English was determined, and the decision to open an English Club after school was taken with the approval of the management. For 3 months, English Drama lessons were held with the 1st and 2nd grades, while English Story lessons were held with the 3rd and 4th grades. Lessons are planned according to the needs of the children with three teachers and approved by the education consultants of the University of Jyväskylä. As a result of the lessons, the targeted English support was provided at the beginning of the project, and positive progress was achieved in the use of the English language by the students.

One for All, All for One

The Covid 19 epidemic, which continued between 2019-2020, was carrying out to affect children who were educated at home in this process, socially and emotionally. Children would have to celebrate 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day at home, which would also take place that year. For this reason, 3rd-grade students studying at YÖM Schools, together with students from India and Italy, wrote motivating letters to each other. They used the English language as a tool to reach each other. 40 different letters written by students from 3 countries were turned into a digital book and went down in history as a permanent memory that leaves a smile on the students' lives.

23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day

The year 2019-2020 has made it compulsory for all children of the world to study from home due to the Covid 19 epidemic. Turkish children studying at YÖM School, together with their peers from India and Italy, recorded speeches in English to each other in order to celebrate April 23, which was gifted to children by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as a holiday in that year when children awere lonely socially and emotionally. Hence, children found a chance to give advice to each other about what they could do at home and support each other through songs and letters, and on this occasion, they celebrated this important day with the support of their teachers. The English speeches, songs, and letters recorded by the students were supervised and all these works were published as a video. This video was also published on the website of the public school where students from Italy were studying.
